ALL SilverbackHD products are designed, engineered and manufactured to harmonize with each other for maximum performance and minimum maintenance. This proprietary engineering process, called Intentional Engineering®, means that each and every component part is analyzed for factors such as:
• tensile strength
• hardness and heat-treating
• weld and torsional reinforcement
• exacting tolerance
• corrosion protection
Tensile Strength: From the grey iron in our drums and rotors to the tool-grade steel in our cams and slack adjusters, all SilverbackHD parts are specified to use the best grade iron and steel available for the application. This strategy is important to engineering for cold Canadian conditions where -56° C (-70° F) temperatures can cause inferior metals to snap like balsa wood.
Hardness and Heat-treating: We don't just make our parts for heavy duty, we make them for severe duty. And we make sure that SilverbackHD Cams, Brake shoes, Slack Adjusters and other necessary components are heat-treated to OE standards. Intentional Engineering of heat-treating standards means our customers receive the same heat treating in the S-cam head as they do in our cam rollers and on the cam end of our premium new brake shoes. This results in longer brake life, more reliable braking, and less maintenance for the fleet.
Exacting Tolerances: Different manufacturers use differing tolerances that can result in loss of brake life and performance. SilverbackHD Intentional Engineering® means we build our brake hardware to the exacting tolerances of our brake shoes, and our cam hardware to the exacting tolerances of our S-cams. This attention to detail results in up to .080" (80 thousandths of an inch) tighter tolerances for more balanced braking and longer brake life.
Corrosion Protection: The harsh Canadian north teaches us a lot about corrosion. Inferior parts just waste away on vehicles here. SilverbackHD Intentional Engineering® uses high voltage electro-deposition coating for maximum rust jack protection on our brake shoes, making SilverbackHD the first and only brake manufacturer in the nation to offer a LIFETIME RUST JACK WARRANTY!
Ferritic nitrocarburizing processes are used on all of our automatic slack adjusters to resist acid washes, salts, and other road corrosives. And SilverbackHD uses other state of the art protections, including zinc plating, thermoplastic resin (TPR) o-rings and high viscosity lubricants.
So when you need the Intentional Engineering® for longer life and lower maintenance, call for SilverbackHD parts, because at SilverbackHD "HD" means "Heavier Duty."
